Painters Paint
Stephen King writes everyday. He says writer’s write. I think painters should paint. The majority of successful painters paint almost every day.
This past year I spent a lot of time on the business of art and trying to market myself. I joined twitter, I followed art marketing blogs, I started a newsletter and I submitted to group shows. A lot of the time I was frantically trying to get my proposals to galleries on a deadline.
The trouble is, I was focusing so much on marketing that I didn't spent time on my paintings. I still didn't have a large body of work to submit. When I did paint, I focused on what I thought would sell or what others would like. This year I am going to simplify my life and focus on becoming a better painter and really paint from the heart. Once I have a large body of work that I am proud of, then I can focus on submitting to galleries again.
So now it's time to start painting!

Challenging Myself to use Grey
Mysterious Grey
24"x20"
Acrylic
This is a commissioned piece based on another painting that is in a series of grey paintings. I love challenging myself to use grey. Too much grey and it turns muddy....just enough grey and it can be beautiful. It is like life, too much grey or sorrow can overshadow the joy. When you are in a difficult time, we need to remember that joy and happiness will shine through again if you don't let the darkness take over.

Vision Board Session
The vision board session went well and was good fun. Everyone created beautiful vision boards. One year I would love to organize a bigger event that is a retreat for women with yoga, creating and a spa. We are all so busy that once in a while we need to take time for ourselves.
This year I focused my vision board on growth and letting my spirit soar. I also want to focus on having fun with my family and fostering a good relationship between my girls. I am motivated to paint and apply to different galleries for representation this year. I want to give thanks, treasure the moment and seize the day.
